Why the Nervous System Is the Missing Piece

Most standard exams such as bloodwork, MRIs, and EEGs are built to look for obvious, visible pathology. They're designed to catch disease, not to measure how well a child's nervous system is actually functioning day to day. And that's a big gap, because the nervous system is the one system quietly running the show behind almost everything else.

Think of it as air traffic control for your child's entire body. It's made up of three parts — sensory, autonomic, and motor. These work together to coordinate every internal function, every movement, and every emotion, thought, and behavior your child has. As Dr. Bruce Lipton has described it, the nervous system's job is to sense the environment and direct how every other cell in the body responds.

That means the autonomic ("automatic") piece of the nervous system is what governs the four basic things every healthy baby needs to do well: eat, sleep, poop, and move. When we say we're assessing your child's nervous system, this is what we're really getting at — whether that autopilot system is doing its job the way it should.

What Makes INSiGHT Scans Different

We don't just run these scans once and call it done. Every child gets scanned on their very first visit, and then again every 12 adjustments, so we can track, in real time, how their nervous system is adapting and changing throughout care.

We use three different INSiGHT Scans together to get a complete picture:

NeuroThermal Scan – This is usually the first scan we run, and we can do it on anyone from a one-day-old infant to mom and dad. It shows us where in the body stress and tension are concentrated, which helps explain symptoms tied to digestion, immunity, and hormone regulation — think colic, reflux, constipation, ear infections, allergies, and sleep struggles.

NeuroSpinal EMG Scan – This scan looks at muscle tone and tension patterns, and it's especially valuable for children navigating autism, sensory processing differences, ADHD, or anxiety. It can reveal whether a child's nervous system is stuck in "fight or flight" (what we sometimes call a Raging Bull pattern), struggling with coordination and focus (a Drunken Bull pattern), or dealing with a combination of both.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Scan – This one measures adaptability — how well your child's body can handle everyday stressors like germs, minor injuries, or big emotions and bounce back. Low variability often shows up in kids who struggle with rigidity, meltdowns, or difficulty with transitions, and it tends to improve as their nervous system regains balance through care.

Together, these three scans give us, and you, a clear, objective window into what's actually happening inside your child's nervous system, instead of just guessing based on symptoms alone.
